After having to deal with a flat garden tractor tire for the umpteenth time, I decided to investigate the world of polyurethane foam-filled tires, and thought I would pass along this info in case you’re interested. Your old tires can be filled at: Tucker Tire Co Inc Cowser Tire & Svc Cowser charges $1.15 per pound of polyfill, until you get up to 300 pounds, then it gets cheaper. You can estimate the costs of filling a tire by looking at the volume guide. New, prefilled tires are available at:
http://www.amerityre.com/ Poly-filled tires aren’t cheap, and are significantly heavier than air-filled tires (one manufacturer says “Polyfill'd tires add weight to provide extra ballast for improved equipment stability”--it’s not a bug, it’s a feature!) but may be worth it if your frustration level gets high enough. |
