Kindermusik Summer Camp at the Burch School of Music

Music for Pre-Schoolers and Early Elementary Grades

Village Curriculum for Infants – 18 months:

Peek-a-Boo, I Love You! More than just a curious story, Mother Goose games like peek-a-boo help your baby understand language. So in this special camp, uncover more ways to say "I love you" using American Sign Language, soap bubbles, blue-star sponges, and parent-baby dances. Plus, you can meet with other newborns and families in the community and learn how music improves the child development process. Home Materials include: Book, CD, Duck Wash Mitt, Baby Duck, Gertie Ball, and Poster.

Busy Days: Set your baby’s day to classical music. With a little more Tchaikovsky in your "Twinkle, Twinkle" repertoire you’ll discover new ways your baby benefits from the classics as you both develop an appreciation for the world’s most respected music. Home Materials include: Book, CD, Poster, and Cage Bell.

Our Time Curriculum for 18 months – 3 years:

Creatures at the Ocean Sing sailor songs and make the ocean count. "Five little seashells lying on the shore: Swish! went the waves ad then there were four." Make homemade kites and your own fish sandwiches using fish-shaped bread and P.B. and J. Materials include: CD, Seashell castanet, and Story Cards.

Zoo Train Your toddler and the train make a natural match – always on the move. Tag along this summer with a traveling zoo train. Bring your own stuffed animals for the petting zoo. Wear long white socks on your hands for polar bear paws and learn about real animals in the zoo. Sing songs for clapping time, and use music to help toddlers regulate emotions. Home Materials include: Book, CD, Shaker Animal, and Poster.

Imagine That! Curriculum for 3-5 years:

Confetti Days! Throw a new party every day. Ride a carousel inside the classroom. Play a balancing game and walk on the web of ropes. Learn colors and sing the Spanish song "De Colores." Sing "Pop Goes the Weasel," and "Looby Loo." Home Materials include: CD, pair of Confetti Bells, and story kit.

On the Road: Take imaginary trips to such vacation destinations as the beach, the fair, and a campsite on a bus named "Van Go." While traveling you will relive your childhood with your child, since every song is likely to revive a memory from your summers past. Play "Eye Spy" and find shapes in the clouds to pass the time. Parents attend the last 30 minutes of class. Home Materials include Book, CD, Frog Guiro and Poster.

Young Child Curriculum for 4-7 years:

Adventures Around the World Take an imaginary trip – exploring the exotic cultures of Germany, Japan, Africa, England, and Mexico. Play the native instruments. Drape sheets over cardboard boxes and sing over the German mountain tops. Toss peanuts on the floor and bring good luck to one’s home in this Japanese custom. Send messages in Nigeria with "talking drums." Home Materials include: CD, arts and craft materials, purple maracas, and a den den drum.

Tell Me a Tale: What child doesn’t love a story? Take a musical journey with us to Germany with the Bremen Town Musicians, learn about the clever muledeer of Malaysia, and hear tales from many other places on the globe. We will bring these tales to life with instruments, crafts, games and special snacks each day. Home Materials include a book, CD, Lummi Sticks and Poster.

Rainforest Camp at The Burch School: This camp is specially designed with ages 4-7 in mind. Come explore the rainforest through music, experiments, crafts, games and food. We will learn about exotic animals, plants and peoples and top off the week with a trip to the rain forest in the fabulous Dallas World Aquarium.
